Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 8 oz pasta (penne, rotini, or elbow macaroni)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup heavy cream or milk (for extra creaminess)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Fresh parsley or basil (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef & Aromatics
    • Heat a large pot or deep skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
    • Add diced onions and garlic, cooking until softened (about 2-3 minutes).
    • Season with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Make the Sauce & Cook the Pasta
    • Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, and pasta.
    • Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  3. Add Cheese & Creaminess
    • Stir in butter, heavy cream, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese until melted and creamy.
    • If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of milk or broth to loosen it up.
  4. Serve & Garnish
    • Sprinkle with fresh parsley or basil and serve hot!
